Team shows itself strong in Amstel Gold Race

Team Coop – Hitec Products has again been able to show itself in a World Tour race. In the Amstel Gold Race, Ingvild Gaskjenn belonged to the first group that started the last climb of the Cauberg together. She finished around the 20th place. “It was a hard race and I think I can be very happy with this result.”

The final of the 128 kilometers long race, already started after around 50 kilometers, as the favourites started attacking each other early. When eight of those favourites were in front, Ingvild was already in the second group, together with Josie Nelson and Caroline Andersson. That group managed to stay close to the first eight riders and were later able to close the gap.

“I have nothing to compare to, as I only raced one time before in the Amstel Gold Race”, Ingvild looks back at the race. “Then it was my first year as a UCI-rider and I think I was the first rider to get dropped. But today it was super hard. I tried to position myself well at the hills. Sometimes I was a bit too far behind, but most of the times I was in a good position. I felt good in the hills.”

Full gas on the final climb
The riders had to do four final laps of around 18 kilometers, with three climbs in every lap and the Cauberg at two kilometers before the finish. “In the downhill before the last climb I tried to go full gas and get a good position. Then I went up the climb full gas and gave everything for the climb. That I finished at this spot, in this group, is something I think I can be very happy with.”
