Clara Copponi finishes 10th in the Belgian classic Brugge – De Panne
After 170km between Bruges and La Panne, Clara caught in a fall 15km from the finish then hampered by another fall in the last bend before the finish, took 10th place on the finish line.
She looks back on the race: “It was a long day. Without wind, we knew not much was going to happen. Five of us in the team were caught in a big crash about 15 km from the finish. I left as quickly as possible and returned to the leading group at 7 km or I joined Émilia. She put me in very good condition but I was hampered in a second fall 2.5 km from the finish. The final was chaotic. I paid for the efforts I made to get home and finished 10th in the sprint.”
Emilia talks to us about her race: “It was a long day on the bike! Not enough wind to create edges, but a fast and stressful peloton still made it difficult! Unfortunately most of the members of the he team were unlucky in the crash in the last part of the race, but Clara fought hard to get back just in time for the sprint. We hope to have more luck in the next race and continue to fight for the good result we seek!”
