Albert Torres and Davide Cimolai will remain with Movistar Team until 2025, continuing their journey with the Navarre-based outfit after securing contract renewals. Torres, a Spaniard, joined the team in 2020, while Cimolai, from Italy, completed his first season with Movistar in 2024 under the guidance of Eusebio Unzué.
Torres reflects on his extended stay
Albert Torres, who hails from Ciutadella, Spain, has been a key part of Movistar Team since 2020. Reflecting on his contract renewal, Torres shared his excitement about continuing with the team. “I’m really happy to be renewing for another year with Movistar Team,” he remarked. “They gave me the chance to join them back in 2020, and they still have full confidence in my abilities. I’m really grateful to keep going with them into 2025.”
Torres has taken on numerous roles during his tenure with the team, adjusting to meet various needs. In the 2024 season, he raced a total of 7,413 kilometres across 48 race days, including an appearance in the Giro d’Italia. He added, “Staying on for another season means the team is happy with me. I’ll keep playing my part to support my teammates, a role that makes me proud and lets me share in the team’s successes.”
Cimolai’s gratitude for Movistar’s support
Davide Cimolai, originally from Pordenone, Italy, quickly settled into Movistar Team’s dynamics during his debut season. The experienced Italian rider, known for leading the team’s sprinters, has covered 12,059 kilometres in 77 race days throughout the year.
Reflecting on the atmosphere within the squad, Cimolai described the supportive environment he found at Movistar. “Since I joined this team last year, I’ve felt like family. It’s been an amazing year, full of emotions, and I’ve always said I want to finish my career with Movistar Team,” Cimolai expressed. He also emphasised his appreciation for the trust placed in him, saying, “I’m really happy to have renewed for another year. I’ve always felt supported by my teammates here. Thanks to Eusebio and the whole Movistar Team for the trust they’ve placed in me. My family will always be grateful to you.”
