Valcar – Travel & Service: Silvia Persico is the best Italian at Brabantse Pijl

Best result of the season for Silvia Persico who in Belgium won an excellent seventh place at Brabantse Pijl. This placement is important for three reasons. First of all because at the finish line of Overjise Silvia was the best Italian of the day in the race won by the Dutch Demi Vollering, then because this is the fourth Top 10 of the season after three high-level performances in World Tour races (10th place at the Strade Bianche, 8th place in the Binda Trophy and 9th place in Gent-Wevelgem); finally, because this result comes on the eve of a prestigious race like Paris – Roubaix which will take place on Saturday 16th April.

For Silvia Persico – skilled cyclocrosser capable this year of surprising the world by winning the bronze medal at the cyclocross World Championships – it could be an important opportunity to highlight her qualities in off-roading on the terrifying cobblestones of the French race and to give visibility to Valcar. – Travel & Service (the only Italian team invited to Paris – Roubaix).

And this is exactly what Silvia Persico did today during the three hours of Eurosport’s live broadcast on Brabantse Pijl, going on the run in the rain with ten other athletes. Starting in the middle of the race, Silvia made a decisive contribution to the success of the breakaway from which Demi Vollering’s personal action came after she reached the finish line alone. During the last 15km the climbs have shelled the chasing group; on the finish line Silvia took seventh place sprinting on Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio and Sofia Bertizzolo.
