VolkerWessels delivered a remarkable display of strength at the Mirabelle Classic, taking all of the first six places in the final standings. It was Quinty Schoens who claimed victory, securing her first UCI win, ahead of teammates Sabrina Stultiens, Scarlett Souren, Anne Knijnenburg, Laura Molenaar, and Malou Eisen.
How the race unfolded
The 127 km route from Pont-à-Mousson to Mont-Saint-Martin featured a rolling, hilly profile that quickly broke the peloton into smaller groups. From early on, VolkerWessels asserted control, placing multiple riders in the decisive move.
At around 90 km covered, a leading group of ten formed, including Stultiens, Eisen, Knijnenburg, Molenaar, Schoens, and Souren, along with Julia Aubry and Francesca Hall from Team Buffaz, Solène Muller of Megamo Vosges Team, and Agnes Bog of Team FRIIS-ABC Dame Elite. Their advantage over the peloton quickly extended beyond three minutes, leaving little doubt the race would be decided in front.
Attacks on the climbs
The key action began on the second GPM, where Aubry and Muller tested the group with accelerations. Knijnenburg was particularly active, winning multiple intermediate sprints, while Souren and Stultiens also featured prominently. Bog briefly joined Schoens and Stultiens in a move, but she was distanced as the pace rose on the climbs.
With 20 km to go, Schoens and Stultiens forced clear, holding a gap of around a minute to Knijnenburg and Souren, who had countered behind. Molenaar and Eisen were further back, but still within striking distance, ensuring VolkerWessels dominance was complete.
Closing it out
In the final kilometres, Schoens proved strongest, dropping Stultiens in the closing uphill drag to Mont-Saint-Martin to secure both her maiden UCI win and a historic 1-2 for her team. Souren and Knijnenburg arrived next, while Molenaar and Eisen rounded out the unprecedented sweep of the top six places. It was a staggering display of depth and control from VolkerWessels, underlining their strength in the continental calendar and leaving rivals with little chance to influence the outcome.
