Winspace Cycling Team gears up for 2024 with 4 international signings

Aurela Nerlo

The Winspace Cycling Team, the new name for Stade Rochelais-Charente Maritime in 2024, is finalising its lineup with a blend of international talent. The team, now featuring a Chinese title sponsor, has confirmed the addition of two Chinese athletes, Xin Tang and Luyao Zeng. This move marks a significant step for the Continental team, highlighting its global aspirations.

Xin Tang, 22, has shown her prowess in both road and time trial events, securing a bronze medal at the Chinese Championships. Her recent performance includes a 5th place finish in the Tour of Guangxi and an 8th place in the WorldTour level Tour of Chongming Island. Luyao Zeng, 25, currently holds the title of Chinese Road Champion. This season, she achieved 4th in the Asian Road Championship and 5th in the China Time Trial Championship. Notably, Zeng also secured three Top 10 stage finishes at the Tour of Chongming Island. Both athletes represented China in the latest Road World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland.

Jean-Christophe Barbotin, associated with the team, expressed excitement about this development, noting, “This is the first time that there will be the Champion of China in a French structure! I’m sure all the organisers will have a great time. China is the future of the world market.”

The team’s roster for 2024 is diverse, featuring six French cyclists, two Chinese and also two Polish athletes, Aurela Nerlo and Karolina Perekitko. Nerlo, 25, previously competed with Spanish Continental team Massi-Tactic, placing 5th in the Almeria Classic and securing top 25 finishes in both the Tour of Extremadura and the Tour of Valencia. Perekitko, also 25, previously raced in France with CC Boulou. Her achievements include 4th place in the Porec Trophy and notable finishes in the Villaquilambre Grand Prix, Chambéry Grand Prix, and the Tour of Andalusia.

With these additions, the Winspace team completes its squad for the upcoming season with a total of 10 riders.
