Who how old were you when you started riding?

I have always cycled with my family. We’d cycle to school and go out on bikes when we went on holiday. I remember learning to ride without stabilisers for the first time. We were away on a camping holiday in France and my parents were busy putting up a tent and so couldn’t put my stabilisers on to my bike. My brothers were off riding their bikes around the campsite and I got impatient, so I just jumped on the bike minus stabilisers and didn’t think anything of it.

What was your first ‘proper’ road bike & what colour was it?

The first road bike that I class as ‘proper’ would probably be my Giant Avail. It was a silver coloured aluminium frame with a triple chainset. It was given to me by a really generous family within my club, VC Londres.

What’s the most important piece of kit/advice that has helped boost your performance?

A really helpful piece of advice that comes to mind is that, if you’re suffering, the likelihood is that so is everyone else. So keep pushing on. When you are struggling in training or a race this really simple piece of advice can come in handy. It highlights that it’s a mind game, as well as a physical one.

What’s your favourite routes/places to ride?

I really enjoy riding in Mallorca. I’ve been there a couple of times on holiday and just enjoy the weather and the roads and the climbs.

What tips do you have to keep the love of cycling going amidst all the training?

After watching Roubaix this year, that’s definitely been added to my bucket list. In all honesty, the list is long but the summary of it is essentially all of the big races I can do on both track and road.
