In a pivotal moment for women’s cycling, Canyon SRAM has confirmed a three-year contract with Zoe Bรคckstedt, effective from September 1, 2023. Team Manager Ronny Lauke expressed elation at securing Zoeโs talent, indicating that her inclusion aligns perfectly with the team’s goal to nurture young talent.
Bรคckstedt, 18, who relocated to Belgium in 2022, is thrilled at the new opportunities. She cited the team’s strong structure and the liberty to race across different disciplines as major draws.
Although young, Zoe already boasts an impressive track record. She holds multiple Junior World Champion titles and moved up to secure a silver medal in the U23 ranks last winter. Reflecting on her journey, Zoe highlighted the synergies among various cycling disciplines. โThe endurance from road cycling is crucial for cyclo-cross,” she explained.
Linda Jackson, founder of Zoeโs former team, EF Education-Tibco-SVB, commended Canyon SRAM for its focus on developing young talents. She voiced excitement for Zoe’s future under Lauke’s guidance.
Looking ahead, Zoe aims to capitalise on the learnings from the 2023 season. Her focus for the rest of the year will primarily be on the cyclo-cross season, especially as a second-year U23 rider. Long-term, her vision is to evolve as a versatile cyclist.
Zoeโs first race with Canyon SRAM will be the Major Taylor Cross Cup in Indianapolis, USA, on October 7. Both Zoe and Canyon SRAM seem set for an exciting ride ahead.
