The 2024 Tour of Watopia is set to mark Zwift’s 10th anniversary with five thrilling stages, taking participants on a nostalgic journey through time. The first four stages will showcase fan-favourite routes from the past decade, offering a mix of cherished and new courses. The fifth stage remains a mystery, with a new island set to rise from the ocean, accessible from Tuesday 12th November.
Stage Details
- Stage 1 – Downtown to Volcano via Epic
Launching Tuesday 15th October (live events: 15-21 Oct) - Short: Whole Lotta Lava
- Standard: Figure 8 (includes Hilly KOM and Hilly KOM Reverse)
- Long: Watopia Mountain (includes Epic KOM)
The running options cover sections of Whole Lotta Lava (5km and 10km).
- Stage 2 – Jungle to Alpe du Zwift
Launching Tuesday 22nd October (live events: 22-28 Oct) - Short: Jungle Circuit
- Standard: Serpentine 8
- Long: Road to Sky (features Alpe du Zwift)
The running options cover sections of Road to Sky (5km and 10km).
- Stage 3 – Fuego to Titans
Launching Tuesday 29th October (live events: 29 Oct-4 Nov) - Short: Tempus Fugit
- Standard: Sand and Sequoias
- Long: Eastern Eight (includes Titan’s Grove KOM and Ocean Boulevard)
The running options cover sections of Sand and Sequoias (5km and 10km).
- Stage 4 – Southern Coast to The Grade
Launching Tuesday 5th November (live events: 4-11 Nov) - Short: Going Coastal
- Standard: Mayan 8
- Long: Itza Party (includes coastal road and Itza KOM)
The running options cover sections of Mayan 8 (5km and 10km).
- Stage 5 – To be revealed
Launching Tuesday 12th November (live events: 12-18 Nov)
Details of this stage are currently under wraps, with speculation about ancient structures emerging from the ocean. All will be unveiled on 12th November.
Participation and Rewards
For those participating in group events, which will occur hourly from Tuesday 15th October to Tuesday 18th November, there will be double XP (experience points) on offer. This allows riders and runners to unlock new items and kits at double the speed. Additionally, on-demand stages will earn participants 1.5 XP and offer the chance to unlock limited-edition products.
Special Promotions and Events
Zwift’s celebrations extend beyond the Tour of Watopia. From Monday 30th September to Sunday 6th October, any trainer purchased on Zwift.com will include a set of Zwift Play controllers worth £99.99/$99.99/€99.99. Moreover, the Big Birthday Bash Rides will happen between 3rd and 7th October, featuring opportunities to ride with stars such as 2023 World Champion Mathieu van der Poel, Sir Chris Hoy, and athletes from CANYON//SRAM Racing.
