Lidl-Trek heads into the 2025 Giro d’Italia Women with a balanced team aiming to support a general classification challenge from Shirin van Anrooij, while also providing vital development opportunities for younger talents like Fleur Moors.
The team’s leadership structure is centred around Van Anrooij, who will target the overall standings across the eight days from Bergamo to Imola. It marks a key test for the Dutch rider after a strong comeback from surgery earlier in the year. Lidl-Trek sports director Ina-Yoko Teutenberg confirmed that Van Anrooij has continued to improve throughout the spring and is ready to lead. She will be supported by Amanda Spratt, whose Grand Tour experience and tactical awareness make her a crucial road captain.
While Van Anrooij leads the GC ambitions, 19-year-old Fleur Moors is set to make her debut in a Grand Tour. Moors, who won Dwars door de Westhoek in June and claimed bronze at the Belgian national championships, comes into the race without pressure but with clear potential to animate stages. “She gets the chance to build confidence and learn from the experienced riders,” said Teutenberg, adding that if an opportunity arises to join a break or fight for a stage win, Moors will have the freedom to go for it.
Lucinda Brand returns to stage racing after recovering from illness. Despite her recent health setback, she’s been training consistently and is expected to play a key support role while also posing a threat from breakaways. Brand’s ability to organise the team on the road and take tactical decisions will be a valuable asset.
Also in the line-up are Isabella Holmgren, continuing her development in hilly terrain, and the versatile duo of Anna Henderson and Lauretta Hanson, both likely to be pivotal in flat and rolling stages. Spratt’s climbing strength and Brand’s racing nous round out a team designed to be competitive in a wide range of scenarios.
