Laboral Kutxa-Euskadi have confirmed the signing of experienced Dutch rider Marjolein van ’t Geloof on a two-year contract, keeping her with the Basque team until the end of the 2027 season. The 28-year-old brings a wealth of experience in the northern classics and one-day races, strengthening the team’s ambitions to perform consistently across the spring campaign.

Van ’t Geloof, who rode for Arkéa-B&B Hotels in 2025, joins a growing Laboral Kutxa squad that continues to blend emerging Basque talents with proven international riders. Her arrival is seen as a key move in bolstering the team’s depth for the cobbled and sprint-oriented races that define the early part of the season.

A classics specialist with proven consistency

Throughout her career, Van ’t Geloof has shown herself to be a dependable and aggressive rider in the tough northern one-day races. Her 2025 campaign included fourth-place finishes at both Gent-Wevelgem and Nokere Koerse, highlighting her ability to perform at the front of major classics. In earlier seasons, she secured podium finishes in Belgium’s Binche-Chimay-Binche (2nd in 2022) and took victory at the Grote Prijs Beerens that same year.

Speaking about her move, Van ’t Geloof said:

“I’m really looking forward to joining Laboral Kutxa-Euskadi. The team has a clear vision of growth and a strong collective spirit, which I really value. I hope to bring my experience from the Flemish classics and sprint finishes to help my teammates develop in these types of races. The goal is to race aggressively, learn from each other, and keep pushing the team forward together.”

A stable home after years of uncertainty

Van ’t Geloof’s transfer marks a welcome return to stability after several seasons spent with teams that later folded. Her previous squads Le Col-Wahoo, Drops, and most recently Hess Cycling, all ceased operations within a year of her departure, while her 2025 team Arkéa-B&B Hotels, also confirmed its closure at the end of this season.

By joining Laboral Kutxa-Euskadi, she remains at the UCI Women’s ProTeam level, with the Basque team opting not to apply for a WorldTour licence in 2026. That decision allows the squad to continue growing within a sustainable structure, maintaining a focus on development and regional identity.

Team management praised the Dutch rider’s versatility and leadership. “Marjolein is an experienced classics racer who knows how to handle herself in the toughest races,” a team statement read. “Her strength, positioning, and tactical sense will be valuable assets, and we expect her to help our younger riders adapt to the intensity of the northern calendar.”

A strong addition for the 2026 classics campaign

With Van ’t Geloof now confirmed, Laboral Kutxa-Euskadi’s 2026 roster continues to take shape around a balance of youth and experience. Her knowledge of the cobbled races and sprint finishes will complement the climbing strength already within the team, providing more tactical options across the spring block.

After several seasons of consistent top results and near-podiums in major classics, the move to Laboral Kutxa offers Van ’t Geloof both a new environment and a clear role as a road captain – one capable of guiding the next generation while still chasing results of her own.
