Almost a million viewers tune in for the thrilling final stage of Tour Femmes 2024 in the Netherlands

The final stage of the Tour de France Femmes will be remembered for a long time by cycling fans. After an incredible contest, Kasia Niewiadoma secured the overall victory, but Demi Vollering fell short by just four seconds, unable to dethrone the Polish rider.

The thrilling conclusion on Sunday was widely watched. According to viewer statistics shared by analyst Tina Nijkamp, nearly a million people (923,000) tuned in between 16:00 and 19:00 to watch the final stage of the Tour de France Femmes, which finished on Alpe dโ€™Huez. For comparison, the final stage of the recent men’s Tour de France attracted an average of 957,000 viewers. The viewing figures for the other stages of the Tour de France Femmes are yet to be released by Stichting KijkOnderzoek (SKO).

Belgium’s viewership

In Belgium, the Tour de France Femmes also garnered significant attention over the past week. The final stage to Alpe dโ€™Huez ranked fourth in the top-10 viewership ratings last Sunday, with an average of 394,000 viewers from 16:00 on VRT1. The Flemish broadcaster also released the viewership numbers for other stages:

– Third stage (time trial): 161,000 viewers
– Fourth stage: 173,000 viewers
– Fifth stage: 243,000 viewers
– Sixth stage: 243,000 viewers
– Seventh stage: 268,000 viewers
