Annemiek van Vleuten, the recently retired former world champion, revealed she is taking on a part-time coaching role with an as-yet-unnamed women’s team. Speaking at an event in Sneek, she confirmed she has accepted a position focusing on mental guidance and goal-setting with specific riders.
The Dutch cyclist, whose career spanned numerous victories and accolades, expressed her excitement about the shift from athlete to mentor. “I’ll be supporting riders in areas such as mental strength and helping them set their targets,” she explained during the talk, sharing her plans without disclosing the team’s name.
Additionally, Van Vleuten hinted at another project in the works—a book about her illustrious career, which she is co-writing with an author. While she did not provide details on the book’s content, it is expected to offer a deep insight into her years in the peloton and the experiences that shaped her.
A few weeks ago, Van Vleuten made it clear she would not be taking on the leadership role for the Dutch national women’s team, leaving the position open. That role has now been filled by Laurens ten Dam, who will bring his own experience and approach to guide the team forward.
