Dutch cyclist Babette van der Wolf is set to join EF-Oatly-Cannondale for the 2025 season, marking the next step in her promising career. At 20 years old, Van der Wolf has already secured strong results in the peloton, quickly making her mark after turning professional in 2023.
Her performances this season have been particularly eye-catching, with a 6th place finish at the Drentse Acht van Westerveld, 3rd at the Antwerp Port Epic Ladies, and three top-ten finishes at the Baloise Ladies Tour. These results have highlighted her talent, and EF-Oatly-Cannondale took notice.
“Iโm the type of rider who races with a lot of heart,” Van der Wolf explained, describing her approach to racing. “I donโt have the biggest engine in the race but I do have a vision of how the race is going to play out, so I am able to react immediately or to communicate to my teammates what is about to happen and we can respond.”
She also spoke enthusiastically about her new team, sharing her excitement about joining the American squad. “I ride my bike because I really love it and this is something I want to keep doing for many years. There are deep downs, massive ups, but in the end, this job allows me to travel a lot. I see a lot of people and I do beautiful races and I grow with my team.”
Her love for tough conditions, particularly racing in the wind, is another aspect that defines her. “If thereโs a lot of wind, that makes me excited. I know I am really Dutch when I say that I love a hard echelon day. Maybe add in some cobbles and punchy climbs. I just enjoy a hard race,” she said with a smile.
Esra Tromp, EF-Oatly-Cannondaleโs general manager, expressed her excitement about the signing. โBabette is a young Dutch bike rider who understands the game of cycling,โ Tromp said. โShe has a fast finish, has super skills on the bike, and isn’t afraid to work really hard to become stronger. Sheโs a rider with energy and a positive mindset. I am happy to add Babette to our roster because I see she can develop into a really strong classics rider.โ
With EF-Oatly-Cannondale, Van der Wolf is poised to continue developing her strengths, and the team is eager to support her in reaching her full potential.
