Giada Borghesi has signed with Human Powered Health Cycling, effective immediately, and will be racing in her new team colours at the Giro d’Italia Women starting on 7th July. The 21-year-old Italian rider from Cles has had a standout year, achieving impressive results and demonstrating her potential on the international stage.

Borghesi’s transfer from BTC City Ljubljana Zhiraf Ambedo marks a significant step in her career. “Moving to the WorldTour is a dream come true,” she said. “I am proud to be part of Human Powered Health. I immediately felt a welcoming, calm and professional atmosphere and I can’t wait to get started with my team and teammates.”

Her 2024 season has been particularly noteworthy with impressive results at:

  • Giro Mediterraneo Rosa: A stage win and 3rd overall, with 2 other top-10s
  • La Classique Morbihan: 4th place
  • Grand Prix du Morbihan: 6th place
  • Grand Prix Féminin de Chambéry: 4th place
  • Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées: A pair of top-10s with one of them a 3rd place
  • Durango – Durango: 7th place
  • GP delle Liberazione PINK: 5th place

Borghesi expressed gratitude for her previous team, stating, “I thank BTC City Ljubljana Zhiraf Ambedo for this part of the season together. It was short but important for my career.”

Human Powered Health’s Team Manager, Kenny Latomme, is optimistic about Borghesi’s addition. “We saw Giada getting good results this year on lots of different parcours, so she is a punchy racer,” he said. “New vibes always give the team a boost. We had a lot of injuries this year so we decided to take another rider to help. Joining in the middle of the year helps Giada acclimatise so she gets to know the team and equipment and this is a big advantage for her development.”

Borghesi is set to make her debut for Human Powered Health at the Giro d’Italia Women opening day time-trial in Brescia. “Giro d’Italia represents infinite love. For an Italian, competing on the roads of the Giro d’Italia is a privilege and an honour,” she explained. “I am so grateful for this opportunity from Human Powered Health to grow and improve. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere of the ride and test myself against the highest level of athletes.”

In addition to her road racing skills, Borghesi is also an accomplished gravel and cyclocross racer. She believes these disciplines enhance her technical abilities on the road. “Cycling can be dangerous so you need to be very technically prepared,” she explained. “I believe that cyclocross and gravel improve the athlete a lot in this regard. Cyclocross prepares for short and intense physical efforts, while gravel prepares you for endurance races.”
