Britain’s Tour Series Partners up with USA Crits in 2021 and 2022

The Tour Series has joined up with USA CRITS, the leading North American street racing series, in a unique partnership that will see the 2021 men’s and women’s Tour Series champions being given the chance to race at the September Winston-Salem Cycling International Crit Challenge being held as part of the USA CRITS Finals weekend in North Carolina.

Both organisations will work together in 2021 and beyond to continue to raise the profile of criterium racing globally and to jointly promote each other’s events to their respective audiences.

“We are excited about this new partnership that brings some of the best crit teams from around the globe to Winston-Salem and gives our D1 Teams the chance to race internationally.”

Scott Morris, USA CRITS Managing Director

“We are thrilled to be working with Scott and the team at the USA CRITS and it is a great example of the plans that we have to continually develop the Tour Series. We are sure the prospect of being invited to be a part of the USA CRITS Finals weekend is an exciting one for all of our teams that will add to the closely fought nature of the Tour Series.”

Jonathan Durling, Partnerships Director for Tour Series organisers SweetSpot

The winning men’s and women’s teams in the 2021 Tour Series will be invited to the USA CRITS Finals weekend at the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic in North Carolina for three days of fast-paced racing action between 24-26 September 2021. The new International Crit Challenge will feature a two-day format pitting some of the world’s best crit teams against America’s best D1 crit squads.

Winston-Salem Cycling Race Director Ray Boden said, “This new format once again offers Winston-Salem the chance to be a showcase for international cycling.”

Tour Series organisers SweetSpot will in return invite the USA CRITS 2021 D1 men’s and women’s teams to compete in the following edition of the Tour Series in May 2022.

It is hoped that the partnership will create a platform to offer British and American teams further opportunities to participate at the respective events whether real world or virtual.

The 2021 edition of the Tour Series was recently rescheduled for early August in order to provide the best possible chance of going ahead during to the global health situation.  Further details of the dates and venues for the Tour Series will be announced in the spring.
