Van Velzen raced professionally through the late 2010s and early 2020s, gaining experience across Belgian and Dutch-backed teams. She stepped up as a stagiaire with Lares-Waowdeals in 2016 before continuing with the structure as it became Doltcini-Van Eyck Sport. Her career included appearances at major women’s races such as the Giro d’Italia Femminile, Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta, Trofeo Alfredo Binda and the Tour of Flanders.
