Canyon SRAM Generation has confirmed the contract extensions of Selam Amha Gerefiel, Maddie Le Roux, Jule Mรคrkl, and Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye for the 2025 season. The team, established in 2022, serves as a development pathway for Canyon SRAM Racing, focusing on nurturing talent globally, particularly from underrepresented regions.
Maddie Le Roux reflected on her year with Canyon SRAM Generation, describing it as transformative. โIโve learned so much about how things work in a professional setup,โ she said. Le Roux also spoke about her debut at the GP de Pontevedra, just weeks after her motherโs passing. โCycling and riding my bike is my happy place,โ she shared. Despite her season ending prematurely due to injury, she aims to win the South African national championships in January 2025 and contribute to the teamโs key races.
Selam Gerefiel expressed gratitude for the teamโs support during a challenging season. โIโve learned a lot and am glad to continue with the team in 2025,โ she noted. Reflecting on the Princess Anna Vas Tour, she praised the teamโs cohesion and hopes to secure her first race win next season.
Jule Mรคrkl acknowledged the difficulty of moving from junior to elite categories but credited the team with supporting her development. โIโve learned so much about tactics and my role in the team,โ she said. Mรคrkl highlighted the stage race in Poland as a standout performance and aims to become more competitive in bigger races in 2025.
Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye shared how Canyon SRAM Generation reinvigorated her career. โBefore joining, I was close to stopping with pro cycling,โ she admitted. She highlighted her growth in confidence and climbing ability, noting her pride in competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Looking to 2025, Ukpeseraye aims to continue developing her skills while supporting the teamโs goals.
The team will feature a total nine riders for 2025, with further announcements expected soon. 2024 rider Daniela Schmidsberger is already confirmed as leaving to move to Lyon Sprint Evolution.
