We have just finished the final stage of this first Women’s Tour de France with Zwift!
The women’s peloton set off from Lure, for 123.3 kilometres and 3 listed climbs. After a first hour of fast racing (39.6 km/h average), it was at the foot of the first difficulty of the day that a breakaway formed. 14 runners took the lead, including Grace Brown, and had a maximum lead of nearly 2 minutes. It was at the start of the climb of the Planche des Belles Filles that this breakaway was taken up. After a very good job from her teammates, especially Vittoria, who showed all her power in the most difficult percentages, Cecilie followed the counter group, chasing behind Annemiek Van Vleuten.
Cecilie finally crosses the finish line in 8th position. Evita, in front of her home crowd, took 12th place at the top of the Super Planche des Belles Filles.
Cecilie takes 7th place in the general classification won by Annemiek Van Vleuten to win this first Tour de France Women with Zwift. Evita finishes in 8th place in this ranking and ranks second in France. The team finally takes second place in the team classification of this Tour.
Cecilie talks about her Tour de France: “I admit that I’m a little disappointed, I didn’t come to the Tour to finish 7th in the general classification, we were unlucky with the crashes on the second day. But on the other hand, I’m really proud of how we fought every other day. We got a couple of podiums, the girls were just amazing. And that’s something that we’ll remember for the next races, that we will let’s always fight, together! The whole team has always continued to believe in me! We will be back! I really liked the atmosphere of this race, and all the public that there was on the side of the roads, not only at the arrivals but really all the way!”
