Chantal Blaak wins Ronde van Vlaanderen

Chantal Blaak has won in an impressive way the Tour of Flanders, the last big classic of this unique cycling season. The team travelled with high expectations to Flanders this year. With Anna, Amy, Jolien and Chantal the Boels Dolmans formation had several aces to play.

From the start onwards the team controlled the race. The traditional early break-away was kept within striking distance. in the final 50 kilometres the team went full gass to make it hard for any competitors to try an attack. In the final a group of 20 riders remained. In between Kwaremont and Patersberg Chantal Blaak attacked. She gained second by second as each kilometre disappeared. In the chasing group, Anna and Amy controlled perfectly. Any attempt was neutralised.

This resulted in a solo win by Chantal Blaak. The sprint for the podium was won by Amy Pieters. Pieters crowned herself after a strong week with Gent Wevelgem and this great second place in the Tour of Flanders. DS Danny Stam, “We couldn’t have given a more perfect farewell gift to our sponsors Boels Rental and Dolmans Landscaping Group. We were very motivated to win this race. That we finished first and second is unbelievable and a great reward for the entire team who worked so hard the last weeks and today.”
