One of the most open secrets of this year’s transfer season was the move of Chiara Consonni to UAE Team ADQ. Just like her former Valcar teammates Eleonara Gasparrini and Silvia Persico, she will help form a nucleus of riders moving across to the Italian WWT team. Consonni has taken 5 victories this year – the last stage of the Giro Donne, Dwars door Vlaanderen, Dwars door de Westhoek, Flanders Diamond Tour and GP d’Isbergues. Her wins in one-day races will help UAE Team ADQ move up in the rankings in 2023.
“I received offers from several teams, but I found with UAE Team ADQ a different and important project with a global approach and I am very exciting to join a World Tour Team with such a Identity! Since I was a child, I have loved cycling and cycling was the most natural and beautiful thing for me to do. Today seems the female professional riders as a role model is an honor.
For me it is the concretisation of showing that when you believe in your goals and dreams and work hard for them you can achieve everything! Plus the technical and sporting growth conversation with the Team Manager, Rubens Bertogliati convince me even more to join. I already know several riders who are part of this group and I’m also excited to be able to work with them.”Chiara Consonni
“Chiara Consonni has shown that she is one of the top sprinters in the international peloton and the fact that she has already managed on a few occasions to beat a phenomenon like Lorena Wiebes speaks volumes about her qualities. She is still very young, but she is a pure sprinter and will be a very important pawn for our team, especially in sprint races. The experience she will also be able to draw from other riders in the team can only help her to grow further“Rubens Bertogliati, UAE Team ADQ team manager
