Cofidis adds 3 riders to 2023 roster – Talbot, Coston & Boulais

Flavie Boulais

The Cofidis women’s team has added a trio of riders to its 2023 line-up. The Oceania champion Josie Talbot, Morgane Coston and Flavie Boulais. Josie Talbot joins from Spanish team Farto-BTC, Morgane Coston from Akea and Flavie Boulais has been a trainee rider for Cofidis since February 2022. The signings of Talbot and Coston in particular are with a nod to the classics season where Cofidis felt like they weren’t as strong as they could be, behind the experience of Rachel Neylan.

Josie Talbot has been based in Spain for the last few years. After making the leap across from Australia she was part of the Casa Dorada/Women Cycling Sport outfit for 2 years before joining Farto-BTC this season. Previously the junior Oceania champion in 2013, Talbot added the elite title to her palmares this year. For her, this is a solid promotion to a stronger team than she has raced for before. She will give Cofidis more in a sprint and therefore finish strongly in one-day races in particular. One of her goals for 2023 will be to race Paris Roubaix for the first time.

I am very excited to join the Cofidis team, especially as this is my first professional contract. I know that I have a huge chance to be in a team that has such a rich and significant history in world cycling. I will do everything to fit in as well as possible within the team and have a good relationship with my teammates. I have been very impressed with Cofidis’ first season for the girls and I will do anything to help the team shine.

Morgane Coston has shown at Arkea the potential that she has. Racing strongly on rolling courses, she finished in the top 10 of the GC at both the Tour de l’Ardeche and the CIC Tour Pyrenees this season. Always looking to go on the attack, Coston is an asset on rolling courses or days for punchers. Her goals for 2023 include the Giro d’Italia and doing well on the Mur de Huy at Fleche Wallonne. She joins Cofidis for 2 years.

Cofidis is the team that will take me to the next level, which will allow me to rub shoulders with very high level girls. I can’t wait to start in my new colors, I know it’s a very important step in my new career. I can’t wait to meet the whole team, to settle in quickly and to help us be ambitious next season. I would like to thank Cofidis for the trust placed in these two great years ahead.

Flavie Boulais is one for the future but Cofidis has clearly been impressed with what they’ve seen in her season as a trainee in 2022. Self-identifying as an all-rounder, she has signed a one-year deal to further her development on the team. Boulais has a quick finish but also wants to do well on hillier races and time trials and get to race more of the bigger races on the calendar.

During my internship with the team in February, I took the time to discover the team and understand how it works. Inevitably, it makes you want to continue and climb the ladder. Physically and mentally, I feel ready to take up this challenge. I feel very good in this team, I have good affinities with the girls. Frankly, it’s a great team!
