Career overview
Shackley was one of Britain’s strongest young climbing prospects, stepping up from Team Breeze to SD Worx in 2021 after a standout junior and under-23 career. She represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympic Games and became British under-23 time-trial champion in 2022. Her biggest international breakthrough came in 2023, when she won bronze in the under-23 road race at both the European Championships and World Championships. Shackley also finished 4th overall at the 2023 Tour of Scandinavia and 7th overall at the UAE Tour Women in 2024. She was forced to retire in April 2024 after being diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia.
