Chiara-Consonni-Dwars-door-Vlaanderen-2022

The organisers of the women’s Dwars door Vlaanderen have expressed their disappointment in not being included in the calendar for the 2023 Women’s WorldTour. The race had hoped to make the step up from 1.Pro level to the highest level but will have to wait at least another year.

The 2023 race is planned to be 155 kilometres, taking place on 29th March 2023. The race will include 8 climbs and 7 cobbled sectors as part of the parcours, with the finale matching the men’s race exactly. The included climbs are: Volkegemberg, Berg ten Houte, Kanarieberg, Knokteberg, Hotondberg, Ladeuze, Nokereberg and Nokere.

The 2022 race saw Italian Chiara Consonni win for Valcar-Travel & Service. She finished ahead of Belgian Julie de Wilde and Swiss rider Elise Chabbey on the final podium. A large group of 20+ riders contested the sprint finish

Of course we think that’s a shame, but we just have to accept it. Of course we think that’s a pity, but we just have to accept it. Nevertheless, we will have a nice field of participants. We have already received numerous requests from WorldTour teams, so the field must be nice. It would be nice to have a Belgian rider as the winner. The Dutch have dominated so far, with eight of the ten victories.”
