Eline van Rooijen extends with ROOT Pro Cycling Team for 2027

Eline van Rooijen will remain with ROOT Pro Cycling Team for the 2027 season after agreeing a contract extension with the Belgian-Dutch Continental project.

The 25-year-old joined the organisation for 2026, when it raced as Citymesh-Customm Pro Cycling Team, and will stay on as the squad moves into its new ROOT identity next year. The team confirmed the renewal in its announcement.

Van Rooijen said she wants to continue developing as a rider in 2027, push her limits and take another step forward with the team. The extension gives her continuity after a season spent settling into a new structure and a race programme that included several WorldTour appearances.

Van Rooijen stays as Citymesh-Customm becomes ROOT

The contract keeps Van Rooijen inside the same organisation she joined ahead of 2026. ProCyclingUK covered her original move to the team for 2026, before Citymesh came in as title partner and the squad raced as Citymesh-Customm Pro Cycling Team.

For 2027 the structure is being brought under the ROOT name, with the UCI squad becoming ROOT Pro Cycling Team alongside the organisation’s academy and junior programmes. Van Rooijen therefore stays within a familiar set-up while the team changes its public identity.

Her 2026 season brought few headline results, but it did give her regular exposure to stronger fields. Her best placing was 16th at Elmos Dwars door het Hageland in June, while she also completed the Copenhagen Sprint and Ronde van Brugge at WorldTour level.

Past wins underline what ROOT will hope to recover

Van Rooijen has already shown she can win at UCI level. In 2023 she took the Grote Prijs Yvonne Reynders after a strong season that also included fifth at Veenendaal-Veenendaal, sixth at the Trofee Maarten Wynants and seventh at the Argenta Classic.

ProCyclingUK covered her victory at the Grote Prijs Yvonne Reynders, where she converted a strong run of form into one of the biggest results of her career.

She followed that by winning the Ladies Tour of Estonia in 2024 and placing eighth at the Grote Prijs Yvonne Reynders. In 2025, riding for Team Coop-Repsol, she opened the season with eighth at the Vuelta CV Feminas before later lining up at races including Paris-Roubaix Femmes and the Simac Ladies Tour.

Those results show where Van Rooijen has been most effective: flat and rolling one-day races where positioning and a fast finish matter. After a quieter 2026, the obvious target is to get back towards the level that produced repeated top-10s in 2023 and 2024.

Van Rooijen targets another step in 2027

Van Rooijen’s message around the extension was straightforward: she wants to keep developing, push her limits and make progress with the team towards stronger results.

ROOT Pro Cycling Team is being built as the top level of a Belgian-Dutch structure that also includes academy and U19 squads. Keeping Van Rooijen gives the UCI team continuity while that wider set-up takes shape for 2027.

For Van Rooijen, the renewal offers another season in a familiar environment and a chance to turn the experience of 2026 into stronger results. Her wins in 2023 and 2024 give ROOT a clear reference point for what she can produce when she is back near her best.
