Ellen van Dijk has shared promising news regarding her recovery. The Dutch cyclist, who fractured her ankle in early June, had concerns about her participation in the upcoming Olympic Games. However, Van Dijk has revealed significant progress in her rehabilitation.

“I’m really happy I can share some good news about my recovery,” Van Dijk posted on her social media. “After surgery, my ankle is healing well. I’m doing two or three indoor sessions on the bike every day. Last week, I got a brace that fits in my regular cycling shoe. This was a big step because now I can increase the training.”

Despite the positive strides, Van Dijk acknowledges that there is still a long road ahead. “The next step will be to do more intervals and increase intensity. For now, I’m enjoying the progression. There is still a lot of work to do, but the hardest and most risky part of the recovery is behind me. I will do everything I can to make it happen!”

Van Dijk, who rides for Lidl-Trek, expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received during this challenging period. Her update brings hope to fans eagerly awaiting her return to competitive racing.
