Esther Wong, an 18-year-old talent with a growing reputation in cycling, has been confirmed as the first signing for Hess Cycling Team’s 2025 roster. Wong brings a strong foundation of experience from the junior ranks and looks to further hone her abilities within the new setup.
Wong, who recently switched her nationality to Ireland, competed as a junior in Great Britainโs ranks but was somewhat overshadowed by standout riders Cat Ferguson and Imogen Wolff. However, she demonstrated her ability with notable results in 2024, finishing 3rd at Watersley, 7th at Gent-Wevelgem Juniors, and 12th at the Junior Tour of Flanders. These performances underline her capabilities against high-calibre competition.
Speaking about her move to Hess, Wong expressed enthusiasm for the challenges ahead. โIโm looking forward to the 2025 season with Hess! I feel being part of Hess is the right step to take to help my development as a rider and as a person. Iโm excited for whatโs to come with my international teammates and racing across Europe,โ she said.
Her new team echoed these sentiments, describing Wong as a “talented young woman” with “great potential” to add fresh energy to their roster. Her transition to the senior ranks will be one to watch as she takes on new terrains and competition in the upcoming year.
