Career overview
Van Empel became the dominant cyclocross rider of the mid-2020s, winning three consecutive elite world titles from 2023 to 2025 and three straight European titles from 2022 to 2024. Her rise began with the under-23 world title in 2021 before she moved into the elite front rank with Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal and then Jumbo-Visma. She also won World Cup, Superprestige and X2O Trophy races, building a reputation for explosive starts, technical control and consistency on heavy courses. Van Empel raced on the road with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, including the Tour de France Femmes, but placed her cycling career on indefinite hold and left the team at the start of 2026.
