Roxane Fournier, after a decorated 13-year career at some of the world’s biggest teams, has decided to transition into a new role as Directrice Sportive at the women’s division of St Michel-Mavic-Auber 93, the team announced today. The French rider, who secured her first UCI win at the 2012 Bretagne Ladies Tour, expressed her excitement about taking on the challenge from 2025.
“I’m very happy to continue the adventure with the team, though in a different role for 2025,” she said. Fournier added that she hadnโt initially planned to move into this type of role but was convinced by the new project and the words of Stรฉphane Javalet, the teamโs manager, to make the leap. She is determined to use her extensive racing experience to guide the teamโs younger athletes.
“The sport has given me so much over the years, and I want to pass on all my knowledge and experience to these young athletes,” Fournier explained. “I know the demands of top-level racing, and if I can help them avoid some of the mistakes I made in my youth, then I’ll be happy, and my mission will be a success.”
Reflecting on the months leading up to 2025, Fournier acknowledged the hard work involved in rebuilding the team almost from scratch. “We had to start nearly from a blank page in September to create a new group for 2025, and I’m really proud of what weโve achieved with the entire staff,” she said. “Iโm 200% motivated for 2025.” This is in reflection of the announcement of the 2025 line-up released this week and future name of St Michel-Preference Home-Auber 93.
Although she recognises she still has a lot to learn in her new position, Fournier is confident in the support around her. “I know I’m well-supported by people who will guide me kindly,” she noted. “Bring on 2025!”
Fournierโs impressive road career spanned several key victories, including her standout stage win at the Bretagne Ladies Tour in 2012 and multiple other top results across prominent races such as the Tour Fรฉminin de l’Ardรจche and the Grand Prix de Dottignies. Her experience will undoubtedly be invaluable to St Michel-Mavic-Auber 93 as they look to the future.
