Gan Assurances joins FDJ-SUEZ as major partner ahead of French nationals

FDJ-SUEZ have announced a new headline partnership with Gan Assurances, with the insurer’s logo set to appear on the team’s jersey from the French National Championships on 25th June. The deal, confirmed today, will run for three years and marks a high-profile return to cycling sponsorship for Gan – a name closely linked to the sport’s past through legends like Raymond Poulidor and the 1990s Gan pro team.

The logo will appear on the right chest and sleeves of the jersey, with the partnership representing a renewed investment from Groupama, Gan’s parent company, into elite women’s cycling.

From Poulidor to the Women’s WorldTour

Gan Assurances have described cycling as part of their “DNA”, highlighting a long heritage that began in the 1970s with Poulidor and continued into the 1990s with the likes of Chris Boardman and Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle in the Gan colours. Speaking as the partnership was unveiled, Gan Assurances managing director Laurent Bouschon explained the motivations behind the brand’s return:

Bouschon said the move was about reconnecting with a sport that is “close to the people and rooted in local communities”, aligning with Gan’s own model built around a national network of locally-based agents. Supporting FDJ-SUEZ, he added, was a way to “showcase athletes who are changing the game” and to “be present at every stage, making a difference through collective strength”.

The new deal also strengthens the existing cycling strategy of the Groupama group, which is already heavily involved in men’s cycling through the Groupama-FDJ team. Sylvain Burel, director of communications at Groupama, said the decision to extend support to the women’s team was a natural next step. He noted that Groupama had known FDJ-SUEZ manager Stephen Delcourt for years, and when the opportunity came to expand their cycling sponsorship, “Gan Assurances was the obvious choice”.

“This new partnership marks an important step in building a bold and consistent sponsorship strategy,” Burel said, underlining Groupama’s long-term vision.

A boost for a team already thriving

The announcement comes at a time of high momentum for FDJ-SUEZ, who are enjoying one of their most successful seasons to date. Now in their 20th anniversary year, the team has racked up over ten victories by mid-season, including Vollering’s triumph at Strade Bianche and the team’s first-ever Grand Tour overall win at La Vuelta Femenina. Juliette Labous also joined in the winter to strengthen a leadership core already featuring Vollering and Evita Muzic.

Speaking about the new partnership, Delcourt described it as a source of “great pride” for the team. He linked the move to a wider story between Gan, Groupama and the sport of cycling – a story that FDJ-SUEZ are now part of. For Delcourt, the team’s philosophy remains rooted in values like collective strength, boldness and commitment. “Gan Assurances will help us keep growing, aim higher, and continue building the future of women’s cycling,” he said.

Gan’s return to the peloton also reinforces the position of FDJ-SUEZ as France’s leading women’s team and one of the most stable structures in the Women’s WorldTour. Notably, they currently lead the Women’s WorldTour standings and are vying to hold that spot until the end of the season for the first time.

Formed in 2006, the team became the first French outfit to reach the top tier, with long-standing support from FDJ and the more recent backing of SUEZ since 2022.
