Giro Rosa: Marianne Vos perfectly completes team work in third stage

The third stage (142.2 kilometres) in the Giro Rosa was mostly relatively quiet. But the vicious final climb in Assisi offered more than enough spectacle. CCC-Liv cleverly piloted Marianne Vos to the foot of the 900-meter-long climb. She finished it off strongly. Vos also gets to wear the mountain jersey. CCC-Liv stays in the lead of the team classification. “There are days when very little happens. Today was such a day. It was only about thirty kilometres before the finish that the peloton came into speed. There was some nervousness with the final climb coming closer in view”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.

“We had given our riders two assignments today: to go with breakaways. And if that were not the case, to drop off Marianne Vos at the right time. The riders have performed their tasks to perfection. Vos was nicely piloted to the climb. She finished it off in an amazing way. It was an ideal finish for her.”
