In an interview with France3, Gladys Verhulst-Wild expressed her determination ahead of the upcoming Tour de Normandie. Despite finishing second by a mere second in the 2023 edition, Verhulst-Wild is eager to make her mark in this year’s race.
Reflecting on her past performance, Verhulst-Wild highlighted her disappointment with the outcome of the previous Tour de Normandie, where she finished 2nd in GC by just 1 second to Cedrine Kerbaol, but remained optimistic about her chances in the upcoming event.
As the race’s ambassador this year, Verhulst-Wild feels honoured and motivated to excel on home turf. Alongside Marion Bunel, she aims to represent Normandy proudly.
Verhulst-Wild discussed her objectives for the race, expressing a desire to perform well without setting immediate expectations for the overall classification. She plans to assess her position after the initial stages of the race and hopes to secure a stage victory, particularly in Pavilly, her hometown.
Anticipating a challenging race, Verhulst-Wild expects a different dynamic compared to previous years, with the individual time trial likely to play a crucial role in shaping the competition.
While the disappointment of missing out on victory last year lingers, Verhulst-Wild remains focused on the present and is determined to make the most of her opportunities in the upcoming Tour de Normandie.
