Bizkaia Durango has announced the signing of 18-year-old Heidi Gaugain. The French rider will spend her first year as a professional on the Spanish team. Gaugain is originally from Mayenne in northwest France but now lives in the French part of the Basque Country.

Heidi Gaugain is one of the most promising young French rider but she also competes with a prosthetic left arm. In 2022, Gaugain won the Spanish Cup even at Balmaseda. She won that race by 2 minutes after a solo break. She was also 6th in the time trial stage at the Watersley Challenge. She was also 4th in the French Juniors TT which was won by Eglantine Rayer, the dominant French youth rider in 2022 that will race for Team DSM in 2023. Alongside her road achievements, Gaugain is also a double junior world champion on the track in the points and team pursuit events.

“Joining the team will allow me to take a step forward next year. I will have the opportunity to discover great races and learn to ride as a team. I am very happy with the opportunity that Bizkaia-Durango offers me and I am really looking forward to starting 2023”.
