Jade Wiel has announced that she is pregnant, sharing the news publicly on Instagram on 7 October.
The French rider did not use the announcement to set out any detailed racing timetable, and there is no reason to speculate beyond what she has chosen to make public. Wiel remains under contract with FDJ United-SUEZ through the end of 2028.

Wiel has spent much of her professional career within the FDJ set-up and extended her contract with the French team through 2028 last year, describing the squad as a place where she felt at home both professionally and personally.
The 26-year-old has combined one-day racing with a supporting role in stage races and has been part of the French WorldTour team’s core for several seasons. Her career includes the French road title in 2019 and repeated appearances across the spring classics and major stage races.
Wiel’s announcement makes public a major personal change away from racing, with any decisions around training, competition and a future return to the peloton left to the rider and team in their own time. In an unusual coincidence, Brodie Chapman announced her pregnancy on Instagram only minutes later.
