Justine Gegu will remain with Mayenne Monbana My Pie for the 2027 season, extending her stay with the French ProTeam after a strong first year in the professional peloton.
The 26-year-old joined the team for 2026 after earning her first professional contract ahead of this season, and quickly established herself as one of the squad’s most reliable options in reduced sprints and one-day races.
Gegu builds on encouraging first professional season
Gegu’s 2026 campaign included second place at the Région Pays de la Loire Tour, her first professional podium, before she followed that with further strong results across the French calendar.
One of the most notable came close to home at the Bretagne Ladies Tour, where Gegu finished third on the final stage into Laval. She also ended the road season with seventh at A Travers les Hauts-de-France, underlining the consistency she had developed across her debut ProTeam campaign.
That progression made an extension a logical step for both rider and team. Gegu is from Mayenne and has spoken throughout the season about the significance of racing for a squad rooted in her home region, while the team has increasingly used her as one of its protected riders in sprint-oriented races.
Mayenne continue shaping 2027 roster
Keeping Gegu gives Mayenne Monbana My Pie continuity as it develops its 2027 roster. The team has already begun adding new riders for next season, but retaining one of its strongest performers from 2026 also preserves a rider who already understands the group’s racing structure and has shown she can contribute results at ProTeam level.
For Gegu, the extension offers the chance to build on a first professional season that exceeded her own early expectations and continue developing within the environment that gave her the opportunity to step up from the French domestic scene.
