Kathrin Hammes (Retired)

Kathrin Hammes is a retired German cyclist who developed into a strong stage racer and climber during a professional career spanning almost a decade. Her biggest result came with overall victory at the Thüringen Ladies Tour in 2019, while she also achieved success at the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche and represented Germany in major international races. Hammes finished her professional road career with EF Education-TIBCO-SVB at the end of the 2023 season.

Career overview

Hammes developed through Germany’s university racing scene and won the World University road race championship in 2014, alongside silver in the time-trial. That year she also claimed a stage victory at the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche before joining Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank. After spells with Trek-Drops and WNT-Rotor, she enjoyed her strongest season in 2019, winning the Thüringen Ladies Tour overall and finishing second at La Périgord Ladies. Hammes later raced for Ceratizit-WNT and EF Education-TIBCO-SVB, finishing fourth in the German road championship in 2021 and second in 2023. She retired from professional road racing at the end of the 2023 season.
