Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank is back in action this weekend at UNBOUND Gravel in Emporia, Kansas – one of the biggest US gravel events of the year.
Emma Langley, Lauren Stephens and Maddy Ward will start the 100-mile event, and Emily Joy Newsom, fresh from a win at Gravel Locos in mid-May, plans to test herself with the 200-miler on Saturday, June 5.
“I am enjoying the gravel scene so much, and with my current form being quite good, I thought why not?” Newsom said. “Why not challenge myself in a way that I have not done yet, and see what my body can do!”
Before the main events this weekend, riders will take part in the 15-mile UNBOUND Gravel Shake Out ride, Hosted by Shimano All Bodies on Bikes, Thursday, June 3 at 10 a.m.
The squad will also be at the All Things Gravel Expo on Friday, June 4, visiting Rudy Project, Shimano, and Voler sponsor booths.
“This is my first ever gravel race and first team race with TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank,” Langley said. “It’s so awesome being here with Maddy, Lauren, Emily and Mat (Lauren’s husband). We’re already sharing lots of laughs and getting excited for the weekend ahead. The energy here is amazing, and I can’t wait to be back in the racing atmosphere. We’ve got a Shimano ride tomorrow, plus some course recon over the next few days, but race day will be here before we know it, and I cannot wait.”
