Marie-Morgane Le Deunff, a rider with four years of dedication to Arkéa-B&B Hôtels, was recently informed that her contract would not be renewed beyond the 2024 season. The 22-year-old Breton, who joined the team at just 18, expressed her disappointment but has already secured a new professional contract for 2025.

Le Deunff, known for her strong character and commitment to the team, found herself blindsided by the decision. “I’ve had four great years with the team. I’m disappointed with how it’s ending because I’ve always given everything for this team,” she told DirectVelo. The news came at a time when Le Deunff was grappling with personal challenges, making the decision even harder to accept. “I feel like this was the first year where I wasn’t quite at my best due to some issues. I’ve always done the job for the girls. When you’re designated as the lead-out rider, you’re not going to get results… I’m sad they don’t have more faith in me, but I still wanted to finish on a high note.”

Despite the setback, Le Deunff quickly sought out new opportunities, securing a place with another professional squad for the 2025 season. Although she is relieved to have found a new team, the sting of Arkéa’s decision still lingers. “I’m sad they don’t have more faith in me, but I still wanted to finish on a high note.”

Winning the ribins stage at the Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic in Brittany last Sunday provided a much-needed boost for Le Deunff. The victory was a significant moment, not just because it took place on home soil, but also as a response to those who doubted her abilities. “It was important for me to raise my arms in victory; it gives me confidence and shows that I have the level. I needed to reassure myself and show the team that I’m capable,” she said.

As she looks ahead to the next chapter of her career, Le Deunff is trying to see the positives in the situation. “I will keep good memories of these last years. In the end, it’s also an opportunity to take on new challenges. Maybe it’s a good thing to move on, even if I initially wanted to stay. This change of team might help me grow,” she reflected.
