Liane Lippert will continue to race in the colours of Movistar Team until at least the end of the 2028 season, extending a partnership that began in 2023 and has quickly become one of the cornerstones of the Spanish squad’s post-Van Vleuten era.
Now in her third season with the team, the 27-year-old German has become one of the most reliable and visible riders in the WorldTour peloton. Her new deal, announced during La Vuelta Femenina where she is co-leading the squad alongside Marlen Reusser, will take her tenure at Movistar to six years.
“Renewing with Movistar Team feels very natural, as it means staying at home,” Lippert said. “I’ve always felt very comfortable with this team – it’s like a family. I’m very happy with the way we’re working and improving, so I’m more eager than ever to stay here for the next few years.”
Lippert has already amassed a strong palmarès in the Movistar jersey. She claimed stage victories at both the Tour de France Femmes and the Giro Donne, added a stage win at the Tour de Romandie, and also won the Tre Valli Varesine one-day race in Italy. Her consistency at the highest level has been evident again in 2025, with a podium at the Tour of Flanders and a fifth-place finish at Flèche Wallonne.
In addition to her WorldTour wins, she remains the three-time German national road champion and a long-time presence at the sharp end of major races. Before joining Movistar, she rode for DSM, establishing herself as one of the most promising puncheurs in the peloton.
Her current role is broader than ever. With Annemiek van Vleuten retired, Lippert has become a central figure in Movistar’s GC ambitions and a tactical leader on the road. Team management also highly values her leadership off the bike.
“My goals for the next seasons are to continue enjoying racing, being aggressive, and helping the team get great results,” she said. “That’s what motivates me most – seeing the team succeed together.”
Movistar Team’s general manager Sebastián Unzué has placed a clear emphasis on continuity and long-term development, and this renewal underlines the trust placed in Lippert as a figure to lead the squad through a new cycle. The team now builds further around her, having already secured riders like Reusser and Lourdes Oyarbide to support their ambitions in stage races and hilly classics.
Lippert’s contract extension is not only a statement of intent from Movistar but also a sign that she believes in the team’s vision – and wants to be a central part of it for years to come.
