The Konvert Kortrijk Koerse, now entering its third edition, has quickly established itself as a significant race on the late-season Belgian womenโs cycling calendar. Taking place in the historic city of Kortrijk, this Flemish one-day event has gained recognition for its challenging yet flat 126.2-kilometer course, which typically culminates in a bunch sprint.
The inaugural race in 2022 saw a brilliant performance by Belgian rider Julie De Wilde, who sprinted to victory. In the 2023 edition, Polish rider Daria Pikulik of Human Powered Health claimed victory in a tightly contested sprint finish, overcoming the previous champion De Wilde, who had been a standout competitor following her strong performances at the World Championships in Glasgow. Pikulik’s win was her third of the season, underscoring her sprinting strength. The race, despite a delayed start due to logistical issues, unfolded dramatically with several breakaway attempts, most notably from Sanne Cant, but it ultimately just set the stage for Pikulikโs sprint win.
The 2024 edition will look to build on its early success, attracting more top-tier competitors and solidifying its reputation. The flat terrain of Kortrijk ensures that spectators can once again expect a fast-paced, strategic race where the sprinters will have the final say.
