Live: 2024 Konvert Kortrijk Koerse

Pikulik-2023-Konvert-Kortrijk-Koerse

The Konvert Kortrijk Koerse, now entering its third edition, has quickly established itself as a significant race on the late-season Belgian womenโ€™s cycling calendar. Taking place in the historic city of Kortrijk, this Flemish one-day event has gained recognition for its challenging yet flat 126.2-kilometer course, which typically culminates in a bunch sprint.

The inaugural race in 2022 saw a brilliant performance by Belgian rider Julie De Wilde, who sprinted to victory. In the 2023 edition, Polish rider Daria Pikulik of Human Powered Health claimed victory in a tightly contested sprint finish, overcoming the previous champion De Wilde, who had been a standout competitor following her strong performances at the World Championships in Glasgow. Pikulik’s win was her third of the season, underscoring her sprinting strength. The race, despite a delayed start due to logistical issues, unfolded dramatically with several breakaway attempts, most notably from Sanne Cant, but it ultimately just set the stage for Pikulikโ€™s sprint win.

The 2024 edition will look to build on its early success, attracting more top-tier competitors and solidifying its reputation. The flat terrain of Kortrijk ensures that spectators can once again expect a fast-paced, strategic race where the sprinters will have the final say.
