Lorenzo Quartucci will remain with Burgos Burpellet BH until the end of 2028 after the Spanish ProTeam formally confirmed a two-year contract extension for the Italian rider. The 27-year-old has earned a longer stay following his first season with the team, which included several top-five finishes in Asian and European races.
The announcement from Burgos Burpellet BH puts an official stamp on an agreement that had already been discussed during the summer. Quartucci told Italian media in August that he had agreed another two seasons with the squad, having joined from Solution Tech-Vini Fantini at the start of 2026.
Quartucci earns extension after first season with Burgos
Quartucci arrived in Spain on a one-year deal following a productive 2025 season, when he won a stage of the Tour of Thailand and the Road Race Tokyo Tama in Japan. He also recorded top-10 results at the Tour de Taiwan and several Italian one-day races, showing that he could compete for victories in different types of events.
His first year in Burgos colours brought fewer winning opportunities but a steady run of results. He finished fifth at the Region on Dodecanese GP, fourth overall at the Tour of Hainan and ninth in the general classification at the Tour de Taiwan. Those performances helped establish him as an option for both shorter stage races and selective one-day events.
The Italian was also part of Burgos’s programme at the Volta a Portugal and in the autumn Italian Classics. His ability to cope with hilly courses, ride in breakaways and finish from reduced groups has made him a useful member of a squad that races extensively outside the WorldTour.
Quartucci acknowledged in an August interview that he had hoped for more from his first campaign, but said the team was happy with his work and that the two-year agreement gave him greater security. His next target is to turn those near misses into a first victory for Burgos.
Burgos continues building its 2027 squad
The extension comes as Burgos Burpellet BH changes its roster for next season. The team has already confirmed several arrivals from French and Spanish squads, including Mathieu Burgaudeau from TotalEnergies, alongside Mattéo Vercher, Thomas Bonnet, Jordi López and Nil Gimeno.
There is continuity elsewhere in the squad. Mario Aparicio has extended his contract for 2027 after finishing 14th overall at the Vuelta a España, while José Luis Faura is among the riders committed through 2028. Keeping Quartucci adds another established option to a group that will need to balance stage-race ambitions with the demands of a broad international calendar.
He will enter the 2027 season with a full year of experience in the team’s racing programme and two more seasons on his contract. Burgos has not announced a detailed race schedule for him, but his results in Asia and the Italian Classics provide a useful indication of where he could be given opportunities.
