Lotta Henttala (Retired)

Lotta Henttala is a retired Finnish cyclist who was one of the strongest sprinters and one-day racers of her generation. Formerly known as Lotta Lepistö, she won Gent-Wevelgem, the Vårgårda WorldTour road race and Dwars door Vlaanderen during a standout 2017 season, while also taking bronze in the 2016 World Championship road race. Henttala returned successfully to professional racing after the birth of her first child and continued winning through 2025 before retiring in August that year while expecting her second child.

Career overview

Henttala became Finland’s dominant female road rider during the 2010s, winning seven consecutive national road race titles and five national time-trial championships. Her international breakthrough included bronze at the 2016 World Championships before a superb 2017 campaign brought victories at Gent-Wevelgem, Vårgårda, Dwars door Vlaanderen and a Giro d’Italia Women stage. After racing for Trek-Segafredo and Ceratizit-WNT, she paused her professional career for the birth of her first child in 2022. Henttala returned with AG Insurance-Soudal in 2023 and later joined EF, winning a stage of the 2024 Vuelta a Burgos and Trofeo Marratxi-Felanitx in 2025. She announced her retirement on 8th August 2025 while pregnant with her second child.
