Marianne Vos has launched into the upcoming Vuelta Femenina with high hopes. The 37-year-old rider from Visma | Lease a Bike, who narrowly missed out on victories at both the Brabantse Pijl and Sanremo Women this spring, is eager for a standout performance at the prestigious event. In a conversation with the Vuelta organisation, Vos reflected on her recent season, highlighting both achievements and areas for improvement.

“I am actually very satisfied after the spring. I was a bit ill during the Flemish classics, but otherwise, my form has been very good, and we have achieved some strong results as a team,” Vos stated, alluding to the impressive victory of her teammate Pauline Ferrand-Prévot at the Paris-Roubaix Femmes. However, Vos candidly acknowledged, “On a personal level, I still miss a highlight, so from that perspective, it hasn’t been a perfect campaign. Overall, though, I am super satisfied with the feeling and the form.”

Despite her successful spring, Vos is realistic about the challenges that lie ahead. She recalled that in 2023, her first victory of the season also came in the Vuelta, saying, “We are going for that again. We are hunting for opportunities for a stage win, and the general classification is also a goal for the team. I have good memories in the Vuelta, and it’s a race that suits my style of racing and the course very well.”

Vos recently signed a lifetime contract with her Dutch team, securing her future in the sport. However, her ambition remains undiminished. As she prepares for the stages ahead, Vos continues to embody the competitive spirit that has defined her illustrious cycling career.
