Maud Rijnbeek extends VolkerWessels contract through 2028

Maud Rijnbeek has agreed a two-season contract extension with VolkerWessels Cycling Team, keeping the Dutch rider with the Women’s ProTeam through the end of 2028. The new agreement provides a longer commitment than the team’s initial confirmation last week that she would remain on the roster for 2027.

VolkerWessels announced the news with a short message welcoming two further seasons together. The 23-year-old has raced for the Dutch squad since the start of 2025, having previously spent four seasons within the NXTG and AG Insurance development structure.

Rijnbeek’s renewal comes as the team finalises its plans for the next Women’s ProTeam season, combining established riders with several arrivals. For VolkerWessels, keeping a rider familiar with its racing programme until 2028 offers stability beyond the immediate transfer window.

A valuable rider across the European calendar

Rijnbeek has built much of her career around one-day racing, where she has shown the ability to handle long distances and demanding finishes. She was eighth at Binche-Chimay-Binche in 2025 and 10th at Dwars door het Hageland that season. Those results came against fields containing several of the strongest Continental and WorldTour teams.

In 2026 she continued to race across a mixed programme of stage races and one-day events. She finished ninth at La Picto-Charentaise, took seventh on the final stage of the Bretagne Ladies Tour and was 15th at the Grand Prix de Wallonie. She also represented VolkerWessels at the Tour de France Femmes, gaining further experience in the sport’s biggest stage race.

Her background includes a stage victory in the 2022 Watersley Women’s Challenge time trial, while a sixth-place finish at La Classique Morbihan in 2023 was an early indication of her potential in senior one-day racing. Rijnbeek subsequently stepped up with AG Insurance-Soudal in 2024 before returning to a Dutch-based team with VolkerWessels the following year.

VolkerWessels secure another piece of their long-term squad

The latest announcement follows the team’s earlier confirmation that Rijnbeek, Maaike Boogaard and Lonneke Uneken would stay for 2027. The new two-season agreement makes Rijnbeek’s position clear through 2028 and gives the team a longer planning horizon.

VolkerWessels have also been active in recruitment, including the signing of Olha Kulynych for 2027 and the addition of experienced Dutch rider Floortje Mackaij. Retaining Rijnbeek alongside those arrivals should help maintain an established core in a squad that regularly competes across both the WorldTour and the wider European calendar.

Although she is still only 23, Rijnbeek has raced internationally since her teenage years and is entering the next phase of her career with a team that knows her strengths. Her extension means VolkerWessels can build on that existing relationship for two more seasons rather than beginning another search for a rider with similar experience.
