Monica Trinca Colonel has extended her contract with Liv AlUla Jayco through to 2027, a move that underlines both her sharp rise and the team’s belief that she is becoming a central figure in their long-term plans. The 26-year-old Italian has built her breakthrough with remarkable speed, evolving from a late returner to the sport into one of the most consistent new climbers in the women’s peloton.
Her 2025 season was the clearest sign yet of her potential. She opened the year with an impressive fourth overall at the UAE Tour Women, a result that immediately placed her in elite company. That performance was followed by eighth in Liège Bastogne Liège, one of the toughest single-day races on the calendar. Through the spring, she was consistently reaching the select groups that shaped finales, showing the same calm race reading that has defined her rapid progression.

September brought the biggest result of her career so far. At the Tour de l’Ardèche, she won the final stage and with it the overall classification, a victory that confirmed her as a rider capable of performing across an entire week of climbing. By then she had also taken second in the Italian road race championships, fifth in the national time trial, seventh overall at La Vuelta Femenina and sixth at Tre Valli Varesine. Add in strong rides at Trofeo Alfredo Binda and Liège Bastogne Liège and her season formed a complete statement of intent.
Her journey into the top tier continues to stand out. She had been a successful junior but stepped away from the sport at 15 and did not return to competitive cycling until 2023 while working full-time as an optometrist. One strong season with BePink Bongioanni in 2024 opened the door to the WorldTour, and within weeks of joining Liv AlUla Jayco she was racing for GC positions.
Trinca Colonel says the contract extension gives her the perfect foundation to keep progressing.
“I’m happy to announce the extension of my contract with the team until 2027. From the very beginning I’ve found it the ideal environment for my growth as a rider, and I have received incredible support every day. I know the trust the team has in me, and I have in them, and my goal is to repay their confidence and the hard work of all the staff with ever-improving results.”
Sporting manager Wim Stroetinga highlighted how quickly she adapted to the highest level.
“Since joining the team, Monica has really impressed us. Her fourth place at the UAE Tour showed she had plenty of potential, and she backed that up with a strong spring. She had challenges over the summer but never gave up, and it was great to see her persistence rewarded with the stage and overall win at the Tour de l’Ardèche. We are delighted that she has extended and excited to see how much further she can grow.”

A climber built for modern stage racing
Trinca Colonel’s skill set suits the current generation of climbing races. She handles long ascents with fluency, can absorb repeated day-to-day efforts and reads selective finals with maturity. Her Tour de l’Ardèche win, combined with her top ten at La Vuelta Femenina, suggests she can develop into a genuine GC threat in week-long races.
She has also shown resilience. She abandoned both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France in 2025 after crashes and illness, yet her ability to rebound quickly and produce her best racing at the end of the season reflects her growing experience and mental strength.
For Liv AlUla Jayco, securing her future removes any uncertainty as they build towards a more defined GC project. For Trinca Colonel, the next two seasons offer the stability, coaching support and race opportunities needed to continue her sharp upward path.
