Italian cyclist Monica Trinca Colonel is set to make her move to the WorldTour in 2025 with Liv AlUla Jayco, following a stellar debut season on the international circuit. The 25-year-old rider, who only began racing at this level earlier this year, has already made a significant impact, with notable performances in both La Vuelta Femenina and the Giro dโ€™Italia.

Trinca Colonelโ€™s rapid ascent through the ranks has caught the attention of many within the sport. Competing against seasoned professionals, she consistently positioned herself among the top 20, an achievement that speaks volumes for someone with such limited experience. Liv AlUla Jayco has now signed the Italian talent, aiming to help her develop further in the WorldTour environment, where sheโ€™ll benefit from the teamโ€™s support and resources.

Reflecting on her move, Trinca Colonel expressed her excitement about the next step in her career. “Iโ€™m excited to join Liv AlUla Jayco because I think it is the perfect place for my growth. I feel a lot of trust from the team, and I canโ€™t wait to keep dreaming with them,” she said. Her enthusiasm for racing and development is clear, especially given her short time in the peloton. “I have only been part of the peloton since last January, so it is difficult to know yet what type of rider I am. For sure I love long climbs and, maybe due to my past in MTB when I was a child, I feel very good in technical downhills,” she added.

Trinca Colonelโ€™s potential was on full display in 2024, where she achieved several impressive results, including 1st place at the Coppa Citta di San Daniele Rosa and 4th overall at the Trofeo Ponente in Rosa. Her performances in the Giro dโ€™Italia were particularly eye-catching, securing 11th place on one stage and finishing in the top 20 on two others.

Team General Manager Brent Copeland shared his excitement about the addition of the Italian rider to the squad. “We are always looking out for new potential, riders with raw talent, and we believe we have found this with Monica. She has shown everyone she has something special this season, racing at the highest level, despite it only being her first full road season,” Copeland stated. He added that the team is looking forward to seeing what she can achieve in a professional WorldTour setting.

Trinca Colonelโ€™s goals for the coming seasons include refining her race tactics and becoming more competitive in time trials. “Next year I hope to improve my race tactics to obtain the best results, and I would like to be more competitive in time trials,” she explained. She also expressed her love for technical races such as Strade Bianche, noting that itโ€™s her favourite one-day race.
