In July, the Trek-Segafredo team will be overhauling its wardrobe in the run-up to the season’s key events: during the two French stage races, its male and female members will be wearing the same special kit that brings together the men’s squad’s signature red and women’s squad’s signature blue. An extension of the graphic of the bikes used by the athletes, this choice symbolises the equal status of the two teams, underscoring Trek-Segafredo’s longstanding equality policy, now also reflected in their kits.

Santini promises that the kit that the Trek-Segafredo team will wear for the Tour de France (July 1st to 24th) will grab the headlines. That when it’s presented on stage in Copenhagen, the audience will be wowed by the superb coordination between the design of the bikes and the cycling wear that the World Tour team has put together for the iconic French race.

For the occasion, the Trek-Segafredo athletes will model the official kit designed especially for the Grande Boucle. Aside from its eye-catching graphics, however, the kit also sends out a powerful message as it is identical for both men and women with a new design that brings together the two different colours chosen for the two teams.

The new visual is a horizontal interweaving of the men’s signature red and the women’s signature blue: these colours remain separated to indicate the two different identities but also meld at the centre to represent the equal status and value of the two teams.

Made by Santini, which has been an official partner to the team since 2018, the kit will be worn by the men’s and women’s teams during the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, the latter taking place between July 24th and 31st. Stylistically, navy blue has been selected as the main colour for both the men’s and women’s kits to drive home the fact that the two squads are an equally valued and important part of the team.

What do Trek Segafredo riders think?

The meaning of this choice is explained by two Trek-Segafredo members, Italian Elisa Longo Borghini and Toms Skujiņš from Latvia.

“I have no hesitation in saying that this kit, with these colours and graphics, is one of the most beautiful that Santini has ever created for Trek-Segafredo. There is one detail that, more than anything else, attracts me: that beautiful play of shades from blue to red. A mix of colours that, besides being super cool, is beyond symbolic for a team like ours. A unity of purpose between two groups that carry forward the same colours, values and goals. This kit is an opportunity to reaffirm once again that we, at Trek-Segafredo, are just one team.”

“Seeing the special Tour de France kit was a nice surprise. I like the idea that both kits get combined together and made into one. After so many years of us missing a women’s Tour de France, it’s nice to celebrate the return of it by racing around France in matching kits. I like that the design uses colours that we don’t often see so often in the peloton, which means it should stand out. It’s always nice to have something special for the Tour, it gives an extra bit of motivation. I’m looking forward to making the most of our three weeks at the Tour followed by watching the women race, all in the same kit.”
