New Liv AlUla Jayco Women’s Continental Team sets out roster for 2024

Matilde Vitillo

The newly formed Liv AlUla Jayco Women’s Continental Team, a merger of Liv Racing TeqFind and GreenEDGE Cycling, is poised for a strong start in 2024 with an impressive nine-rider roster. The team, boasting eight nationalities, exemplifies a vibrant international character.

Alyssa Polites, a familiar name from Australia who competed for the World Team this season, will gain further experience in the Continental Team. Another notable athlete, Moroj Adil from Saudi Arabia, joined GreenEDGE earlier this year for a training camp and has now secured her spot in the team.

American rider Kaia Schmid and Italy’s Matilde Vitillo, both familiar with WorldTour competition, strengthen the team’s roster. Vitillo, in particular, brings a winning pedigree, having secured a stage victory at the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas in 2022.

The team also welcomes promising talents like Emma Jeffers from Great Britain, Noä Jansen from the Netherlands, Australians Mackenzie Coupland and Leila Gschwentner from Austria, and Hélène Hesters from Belgium.

Eric van den Boom, General Manager of Liv AlUla Jayco, emphasises the Continental Team as a crucial component of their broader vision. The aim is to nurture young talents, providing them with a path to develop and eventually excel in WorldTour races. This approach includes personalised coaching and access to facilities shared with the WorldTeam.

Riders have expressed excitement and determination for the upcoming season. From Adil’s ambition to inspire more women in Saudi Arabia to Coupland’s focus on transitioning to the U23 category, each rider brings unique goals and perspectives. Gschwentner aims to continue her growth in both road and track cycling, while Hesters is excited about the learning opportunities ahead. Jansen is motivated to showcase her abilities in classics and stage races, and Jeffers looks forward to developing her climbing and sprinting skills. Polites is eager to regain her confidence and make an impact, and Schmid aims to make significant strides in her development. Vitillo looks forward to improving and taking significant steps forward in her career.
