Norsgaard and others from the Movistar Team, crash in the 3rd stage in Holland

Simac Ladies Tour (Stage 3)

A huge pileup 6 km from Weert’s arrival frustrates the “telephone” hopes for the general classification and leaves Emma Norsgaard, Barbara Guarischi and Jelena Erić with trauma and bruises, in principle without fractures.

The Simac Ladies Tour 2021 has been literally turned upside down this Friday after a monumental fall six kilometres from the arrival in Weert, in a dangerous and technical final circuit of its third stage from Stamproy (120 km).

The incident, caused by a narrowing in the road in the midst of a fight for position, brought almost all of the Movistar Team to the ground. The worst stop was Emma Norsgaard, with a strong blow to the chest and ribs that will not require, in principle, further examinations, but will require rest. She also suffered a major lumbar blow to Jelena Erić, who fell on her back, while Barbara Guarischi suffered a trauma to her wrist, apparently without fractures.

Lonneke Uneken (SDW) took the stage among the only six riders who avoided the crash, while Marlen Reusser (ALE) held the leader’s jersey for a dozen seconds. Tomorrow Saturday, fourth and penultimate stage, with 149 km and somewhat more winding terrain around Sweikhuizen.
