Olivia Shililifa in her first race with Canyon/SRAM Generation

CANYON//SRAM Generation today start Princess Anna Vasa Tour. The three-day tour in the town of Golub-Dobrzyń, Poland. The team’s roster will be Agua Marina Espinola Salinas, Valentine Nzayisenga, Llori Sharpe and Olivia Shililifa. After several delays due to visa approval, Namibian youngster, Olivia, will make her debut with the team today.

“I’m very excited! It took a long time to be here ready for my first race due to delays in my visa approval. I’m grateful to be here now and I am excited to embark in this journey,” says Olivia.

The tour starts with two road stages both with undulating circuits, and a final 18km-long individual time trial.

Olivia says, “Today’s expectations will be to push myself through and get myself familiar with the environment and as for the tour, hoping to gain as much experience I can. I want to learn, not forget to have fun and enjoy the experience for myself. I have mixed emotions but mostly excited for the tour. I’m wishing myself nothing but a heart that will push through the barriers.”

After a small mid-season break, CANYON//SRAM Generation returned to racing last weekend with a victory from Richard Bauernfeind at Groupama Ladies Race in Slovakia. The team’s depth was shown when three riders finished in the top 11.

“We returned to racing really strongly last weekend,” says Agua Marina. “We have been able to work together as a unit, and I’m especially proud of Valentine and Llori who are racing really well.”

“For this tour, I’d really like to try to see us in the front group and try for breakaways. I’m excited for the time trial, as it will be my first one this season. I’m looking forward to fight for a top 10 place,” adds Agua Marina.
